“’Whisper My Name’ takes place about 18 years ago when I was touring with my band in an old white van playing for nobody and making no money. But, we didn’t have a care in the world. We were footloose and fancy-free doing what we loved. Thankfully, we had great shows at the Texas Hall of Fame in the Bryan/College Station area.
We would sell it out every time we came to town…1,800-2,000 tickets…the kids loved us. Not only did it help us out financially, it helped us believe in ourselves. Life back then was so simple, and so was love, and that’s what this song is about. It starts out “when life was easy and freedom was a Friday night, I’d pick you up and keep you out until the morning light,” said Watson of the newly released single.
