Roll on in for the Special Olympics Bowling Tournament!

Written by

Whether you’re a hardcore bowler or you like to have fun at the lanes, don’t miss the 7th Annual Special Olympics Bowling Tournament hosted by the Ak-Chin Indian Community Police Department! The fun happens Sunday, April 28 starting at 1 p.m. at Ten Pins Down.

Tournament proceeds will benefit Special Olympics of Arizona. Grab your friends and coworkers to form teams! The entry fee is $100 per team of four players, and up to 36 teams can play. Don’t miss this great opportunity for friendly competition and good times!

The bowling competition starts at 1 p.m., with the second session at 3 p.m. Who will be this year’s champion team? Stick around between and after games to cheer all teams on and to participate in the raffle, with lots of great prizes! It all happens at Ten Pins Down, located within the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center at Ak-Chin Circle. It’s sure to be a good time for all!

To register your team of bowlers, or for more information, contact Michelle Granados at 520-568-1215 or mgranados@ak-chin.nsn.us. Entry fees can be paid by cash or money order; make money orders payable to Special Olympics Arizona. Register by April 26 to guarantee your spot!

Special Olympics Arizona offers recreational and competitive sports opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Several Ak-Chin Indian Community members have family members or friends with intellectual disabilities, and they honor these individuals each year by participating in the tournament.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community Police Department hosts this event annually to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Arizona. A few days later, on Thursday, May 2, the department will participate in the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Walkers, bikers, and runners from the community can also participate. After a safety briefing at 5:45 a.m., transportation leaves at 6 a.m. to arrive at the starting point for this leg of the journey. The police department receives the torch from the Maricopa Police Department at Murphy Road and Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway for the second portion of the run to the Frito Lay plant, before passing it on to another agency.

Be a part of something special—register today for the bowling tournament, and don’t miss the chance to participate in or view the inspiring Torch Run! It’s all good times for a great cause!
