Best Country Songs for Road Trips

Written by

In honor of a summer we will never forget and all the canceled rodeos we won’t be able to attend, I wanted to put together a list of the Best Country Songs for Road Trips as an ode to what I know we are all missing. My hope with this list is that you can imagine yourself going down the rodeo road with your best friends in tow, headed to the show, wind in your hair, hand out the window and you have those butterflies in your belly, a promise of what’s to come.

The Classics

What’s a road trip without the classics? I picked the following songs because they are timeless classics that will never go out of style. I am a die-hard country music fan but in order to call yourself that, you have to like it all. Add these sings to your road trip playlist and you won’t be disappointed!

“Dixieland Delight” – Alabama

“Eastbound and Down” – Smokey the Bandit

“On the Road Again” – Willie Nelson

90’s Faves

If you go another step passed the classics, you will find a long list of 90’s favorites. These are just a few of mine, but trust me, I could listen to 90’s country any day of the week. These are the songs that you might hear played before a rodeo performance, so listening to them on the road, just gets me even more excited to get to my destination.

“Pickup Man” – Joe Diffie

“Should’ve Been a Cowboy” – Toby Keith

“Any Man of Mine” – Shania Twain

Personal Favorites

Hopefully, the title explains itself. These are a handful of my personal favorite titles that you would find on my road trip playlist. I don’t leave home without them. I would love to know what your favorite country music songs are for road trips! Make sure to leave a comment below and I will add them to a “Fan Favorites” section in the article!

“Drinkin’s Problem” – Midland

“Life, Love and the Meaning Of” – Billy Currington

Real Good Time – Aaron Watson

Honorary Mention

Because we all miss the open road, Cody Johnson’s, “Dear Rodeo” is a perfect way to round out this list because there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to get our rodeos back to running at full capacity.

“Dear Rodeo” – Cody Johnson
