Sandhills Stock Show & Rodeo 2021

Written by

The Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo is coming back to Odessa, Texas, for another year of fun and excitement. Beginning January 6th, this annual festival of the cowboy way of life will continue until the 16th. The Sandhills Rodeo is an event you don’t want to miss. Start the 2021 rodeo season on the right foot.

2019 Sandhills Royalty

Last year’s event brought 614 entries from across Texas. There were Hereford heifers and steers, fine wool lambs, and market goats. The SandHills Steer Show is the only Junior Livestock Show in the state of Texas which is exclusively Hereford cattle.  Likewise, the Lamb Show is unique in that they show only Fine-Wool Lambs.  Because of this, the quality of the steers and lambs shown in Odessa rivals any show in the state.  In addition to the prizes and premiums awarded in their shows and sale, participating students also compete for scholarships.

The real star of the show is always the Sandhills Rodeo. After grouping the steers into weight classes, some of the best working cowboys and enthusiastic amateurs saunter out to the ring and take their chances. Bull riding has always been called the most thrilling eight seconds in sports, and the spectators at the Sandhills Rodeo will see enough action to last a lifetime.
