For many high school students who know what this feels like, there’s no better way to showcase their talents that by competing in the 2017 National High School Finals Rodeo. Scheduled to be held July 16-22 at Cam-Plex in Gilette, WY, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. For young cowboys and cowgirls, the NHSFR is their chance to show off their rodeo skills before family, friends, and plenty of other fans.
A Worldwide Competition
While many people think the National High School Finals Rodeo is a localized event, the fact is it’s anything but that. According to the latest figures, the NHSRA is comprised of 12,500 students from 42 states as well as Australia and Canada. For this year’s NHSFR, it’s expected to feature at least 1,500 contestants from the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Media Coverage
Since this competition is so popular around the world, the media coverage is quite extensive. Leading the way will be the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, offering fans plenty of videos, photos, and interviews. Along with CLN, fans can tune in to coverage from the Ak-Chin Indian Community, Earnhardt Auto Centers, and Papa John’s Road Team, guaranteeing they won’t miss any highlights of this exciting competition.
Events
Since this rodeo is so popular worldwide, the number of events included in this Gilette, WY competition continues to grow. Among the most anticipated are bareback riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and many others.
Prizes and Scholarships
Due to its popularity, the NHSRA offers fantastic prizes as well as scholarships for contestants. Whether it’s walking away with the coveted championship buckles after several days of grueling competition or thousands of dollars in prizes or scholarship money, there’s no doubt contestants in the NHSFR in Gilette, WY have plenty of incentive to do their best.
Rodeo Queen
A tradition since 1950, the NHSRA Rodeo Queen is always an honor that numerous young women aspire to achieve each and every year. With last year’s queen Opal Harkins representing the event in a gracious and wonderful manner, there’s no doubt whoever is crowned this year’s queen will continue this wonderful tradition.
