American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) produces custom hardware for top-name, off-road adventure trucks and cars. The next-generation Canyon boasts ample upgrades, including 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires with an additional AEV in-bed vertical spare tire mount containing a full-size spare and offering 12.2-inch ground clearance. The truck’s AEV front and rear steel bumpers help enable a 38.2-degree approach angle and a 26.0 departure angle, says Car and Driver in a review

The front bumper comes winch capable, and the rear bumper features caps on each corner that can be removed to reveal steel plates for sliding over rocks and other obstacles, notes Car and Driver. Additional skid plates protect the radiator, steering gear, transmission and transfer case, fuel tank and rear differential.

Exclusive 17-inch Salta beadlock capable wheels and rock rails protect the rocker panels and further differentiate the latest GMC Canyon, Car and Driver says.

Under the hood, this vehicle features a turbocharged 2.7-liter engine providing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard features.

According to GMC, the Canyon’s Launch mode automatically adjusts to different surface conditions, so the system recognizes whether the truck is running on dirt, gravel or sand.

GMC also didn’t skimp on entertainment features. Every model has a digital gauge cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Car and Driver says, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with GM’s Ultifi platform. Ultifi enables delivery of features and services to customers over the air, allowing future updates to be added.
