Guthrie, Oklahoma – Hey team roping fans! It’s about that time – the 48th Annual Wrangler BFI presented by YETI is right around the corner! If you’re like me, you feel a surge of excitement each year as the event draws near. There’s nothing like watching the best ropers on the best horses in the world duel it out, and this year promises to be no exception!

Wrangler BFI presented by YETI
March 26th – April 1st, 2025
Lazy E Arena
9601 Lazy E Dr, Guthrie, OK 73044

Excitement
I’m extra excited to watch Trevor Brazile and Billie Jack Saebens – two amazing cowboys and horsemen that are teaming up this year. To me, that’s what makes the Wrangler BFI week so special; getting to watch teams that don’t usually compete together. But also, you can never discount defending champions Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira to get the job done! I can’t hardly wait to see this year’s lineup. Who are you rooting for?

Growth
It’s also been incredible to watch the growth of the event since moving it from Reno to Guthrie, Oklahoma, with 2024 seeing a jaw-dropping $4.35 million in cash paid out. And as a female roper, it’s amazing to see the addition of the Charlie 1 Horse All-Girl Team Roping and Breakaway and how many opportunities women in rodeo are getting!

“Just four years after we moved BFI Week from Reno to Guthrie, we had a 153 percent increase in roper numbers and we went from paying $1.5 million in Reno to more than $4.3 million last year. Every roping has seen growth, so it was evident that two arenas will just help ropers get to dinner earlier. Except for The Feist – we’ll continue BFI tradition and keep that in the main Lazy E arena so fans can watch every run.”
– BFI co-owner Daren Peterson

Ultimate Cowboy Showcase
With a purse of more than $650,000 and featuring 125 of the world’s best ropers, The Feist will be the ultimate cowboy showcase for fans inside Guthrie’s Lazy E Arena.

History
The BFI began when Bob Feist, inspired by watching tennis matches, envisioned a high-stakes invitational with the top 40 teams roping under tough conditions to entertain fans. The first event was held in Chowchilla, California, in 1977, where the unique challenges of the large arena, long scores, and strong cattle set the BFI apart from other ropings. After brief stints in Las Vegas and Texas, the BFI moved to Reno, Nevada, in 1982, where it remained for 35 years until the pandemic moved it to Guthrie, Oklahoma. It truly is the elite of the elite when it comes to roping!
