5 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Buy at Auction

Written by

There are some items you expect to see at an auction: antiques, service trucks or artwork are just a few examples of common items up for bid. Other auctions can leave you scratching your head, with items for sale that you never thought you’d see at an auction. As auctions evolve, they open up new opportunities for buyers as well as sellers.

There are plenty of items that may be taking up space at home that you might be able to sell at auction. Thankfully, our friends at WSM Auctioneers in Phoenix, AZ, have you covered. There’s a market of buyers out there ready to bid on those clunky items laying around your yard or house. For buyers, more options are always a good thing. No matter how obscure an item may seem, there’s someone out there who’s selling it.

A Smart Car

Who knew you could by a smart car at an auction? This is a first for us! You can actually bid on this vehicle at their next upcoming auction on March 9th. Lucky for you, you don’t even need to be on-site to bid, you can do it from the comfort of your own home. Check out their website to see the full stock of vehicles they will be auctioning off March 9th.

A Trailer Grill

You heard us right, a trailer grill! This grill has two grills and can easily be pulled behind any vehicle with a hitch. This cool item sells Saturday, March 9th at WSM Auctioneers in Phoenix. This would be the perfect item for a non-profit organization that hosts a lot of outdoor events or maybe a hobby BBQ’er who is ready to take their skill to the next level.

Yard Art & Statues

There is a large market for anything to do with landscaping, especially if you are in the home improvement business. The great thing about auctions is that you can get a swinging deal on something if you are at the right place at the right time, but you won’t know unless you play! The only catch is you have to be present and onsite in order to bid on these items.

Horse Drawn Buggy

This might be one of the odder items found at the auction. The famous saying does go, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” These are the kinds of items that you can get for a steal depending on the crowd that day. That is the exciting thing about an auction is not knowing what you will or won’t go home with.

Camper

Is anyone in the market for a camper? One lucky winner is going home with a Tahoe Camper! This is a perfect example of something that you never know what you find and everything is sold “as is”. The auction is a perfect place to find large items that you can flip for more money or even keep the item for yourself.

Make it Unique

If you’re thinking about buying or selling truly unique items through an auction, the first step is determining how unusual those items actually are. At WSM Auctioneers, they appraise your items to give you a better understanding of their value. The appraisal is a rough estimate, so there are no guarantees an item will sell for a quoted price at auction. On the other hand, the item could spark a bidding war and go for a higher price than expected. When you have a unique item on your hands, some people are willing to pay more than face value to get it.

If you’re a buyer, you can use WSM Auctioneers to find unique items you won’t find anywhere else, such as industrial machinery, new home additions, and much more. Don’t know where to start? Check out our ever-changing list of current and upcoming auctions.
