The 88th annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo set to take place on March 10th through March 13, 2016 is anticipated to be the event of the season complete with bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding and even bareback riding. Comparable in tone and measure to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo held in San Antonio, Texas, this particular event is sure to pack in the crowds.

Since 1928, the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo has been a tradition in the area. It was originally put on in attempts to raise funds for a new building, but thanks to its immense success, it has become an annual event. Crowds from all over the state, even those who are fans of the SASSR, flock to Desoto County, Florida, to enjoy all that the event has to offer, including the livestock show, horse show and stock show.

Like the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, the Arcadia event has evolved from its pioneer beginnings until it is now known as the “Super Bowl” of bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding. The top cowboy and cowgirl competitors from all over the nation enter the event. For instance, this year, attendees can expect to see bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding from top cowboy Will Lowe and renowned cowgirl Nicole Yost.

In the true tradition of the SASSR that began back in San Antonio, Texas, the Arcadia comes complete with plenty of additional entertainment for those who prefer perusing a livestock show, stock show or horse show. Photographer Mike Rastelli will be on the scene to capture stunning images of the livestock show, horse show and stock show, and guests can prepare to be entertained by clown/barrelman Keith Isley.

As in true keeping with the fashion of the SASSR held in San Antonio, Texas, the Arcadia will be overseen by true professional officials, Bobby Gornto and Joe Bob Locke. Greg Simas and Donnie Gay will provide colorful announcement, and cowboy Blue Jeanes will participate in the bullfighting event. Cowgirl Lauranne Smith is set to serve as the secretary for the event. Just like the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, this rodeo is projected to pay out more than $70,000 in prizes. To top it all off, the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, Ak-Chin Indian Community and Earnhardt Auto Centers Road Team, the leading online source for everything rodeo, will be providing media coverage for the event.

Peter Varlet’s the cowboy critic you love to hate, until he’s right. Born during a thunderstorm in 1972 in Bismarck, North Dakota, he grew up watching his WWII vet dad battle to save their farm from corporate claws. Now, Peter’s the unapologetic voice of Western culture, with a historian’s grip on America’s past, acknowledging both its heroes and hypocrites. His truth to power articles are a no-holds-barred zone for rodeo reviews, cowboy movie takedowns, and ranching tricks that work. He’ll tell you why your country singer’s a fraud and how to fix a fence with only baling wire and spite. Peter despises corporate factory farms taking over and cherishes the DIY grit of real Americans. Politically correct? Nope. Trustworthy? Damn straight. He’s saving the West, one brutal truth at a time.
