If you’ve ever been to the National FFA Convention, you know it’s not just another school trip – it’s a full-on experience. This October 29 through November 1, thousands of FFA members from across the country will head to Indianapolis for the 2025 convention, and whether it’s your first time or your fourth, there’s nothing quite like it. Between the sea of blue jackets downtown, the energy in the sessions, the massive expo, and reconnecting with friends from past events, it’s one of those weeks you never forget. And if you’re not going yet? You might want to start making plans!

A Historic Organization
The Future Farmers of America (FFA) was founded in 1928 to support students preparing for careers in agriculture. What began with 33 students at the first national convention in Kansas City quickly grew into a nationwide organization focused on leadership, skill-building, and agricultural education. Over time, FFA expanded beyond traditional farming to include areas like agribusiness, science, and technology. A major milestone came in 1969, when membership opened to female students, marking a significant step toward inclusivity.

In 1988, the group officially changed its name to simply FFA, reflecting its broader mission. Today, there are 1,042,245 FFA members in 9,407 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, grades 5-12 and college. It remains dedicated to helping students grow through hands-on learning, leadership development, and career exploration. Members are future farmers, chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields.
