Masik Tas: “Strengthening our Community Through Unity and Perseverance”

Masik Tas is much more than a rodeo and carnival. While the Ak-Chin Indian Community’s history stretches back through time, Masik Tas is a yearly event celebrating the formal recognition of the Ak-Chin Indian Community by the United States government. This โ€œbirthday partyโ€ tradition has become a staple for the community, where hundreds of hours of planning and hard work go into creating Masik Tas each year. 2024 marks 17 years of excitement as community members, residents, and the general public alike, join together to commemorate this important event in the Ak-Chin Indian Communityโ€™s history.

From a captivating light parade, and high-energy musical performances, to jaw-dropping rodeo action, Masik Tas 2024 is packed to the brim with entertainment for the entire family. So letโ€™s dive in and see what Masik Tas has in store this December!

Fun for the Entire Family!

Masik Tas kicks off on December 14th with various opportunities for tribe members and the general public to enjoy. From sporting events such as volleyball and basketball tournaments to traditional games such as Songivul and Toka, friends and family are encouraged to come out and cheer the athletes on.

One of Masik Tasโ€™ most highly anticipated events is the annual light parade. Transforming West Farrell Road into a captivating stream of twinkling lights and colorful displays, the light parade is the perfect kick-off to the month’s many exciting festivities.

Attendees can look forward to a 10k and 2-mile race, a gravity-defying carnival, cultural performances, demonstrations, and top-notch musical entertainment.
