Ak-Chin Indian Community offers bountiful Thanksgiving choices

Let someone else do the cooking on turkey day! You’ll find lots of great meals and deals when you celebrate Thanksgiving in the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

The Buffet at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino serves up a full feast. Start with a carving station of turkey, prime rib and beef. The spread also includes favorites like mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Other tasty choices on the buffet are grilled, stir-fry and Spanish fare, sure to satisfy all! This feast will be offered from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and cost is $27.99 per person.

If you prefer more of a sit-down meal, visit Chop, Block and Brew, also within Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino. The Thanksgiving Pre-Fixe Feast offers a three-course plated Thanksgiving meal from 4-9 p.m. for $55 per person. The first course includes choice of butternut squash soup or salad with an entree course of roasted and smoked turkey breast, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, green beans, gravy and cranberry sauce. The dessert course features pumpkin cheesecake or pecan pie a la mode. Reservations are highly recommended for either location; call 480-802-5000.

Or bring the whole crew to 347 Grill for a plated Thanksgiving menu with all the traditional Turkey Day favorites! Enjoy a garden salad with choice of dressing, oven-roasted turkey breast, citrus cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, sausage stuffing, green beans almondine, rolls and butter, and pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream. If you’d like to feast in the comfort of your own home, order Thanksgiving Dinner To Go from Arroyo Grille! This no-fuss Thanksgiving meal offers roast turkey breast, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, homestyle dressing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie, all prepared by Chef Neil Magbanua and his team. Preorder by Tuesday, November 26 at noon to have your feast ready.

Carolyn Sostrom is a long-time Arizona resident who loves desert sunsets, warm weather, Zumba, and the Western lifestyle. She attended Saguaro High School in Scottsdale and then Arizona State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Similarly to the protagonist in *The Devil Wears Prada*, Carolyn moved to New York City right after college. She started working for the fashion magazine company Conde Nast but never transitioned to the dark side. After a few years, she left New York in the rearview mirror and returned to her home state, taking a reporter job at the *Apache Junction Independent*. With over 30 years of freelance writing experience, Carolyn especially enjoys writing about community events and profiling individuals who are making a difference in their communities. She had the pleasure of interviewing a variety of cowboy personalities for an article she wrote for the *Scottsdale Independent* about the history of DC Ranch and its roots as a working ranch. Now, her Western adventures with CLN have her diving into the rugged automotive scene, exploring the trucks and rigs cowboys rely on for work, home, and play, a niche where grit meets horsepower. She works at Raising Special Kids, a nonprofit resource center for families of children with disabilities and special healthcare needs. Carolyn also volunteers with the Autism Society of Greater Phoenix. Carolyn believes that everyone has a story, and she loves connecting with others to hear their stories. She’s dedicated to ethical journalism and accurate reporting, which shines through in her storytelling.
