First Time Hunter Starter Kit

If you’re considering jumping into hunting or want to know more about what goes into a first hunt, then you have come to the right place! We are going to cover some essential tools that the experts recommend you have before setting out. We are excited to be featuring some products from our friends at ATN Corp as well!

Documentation & Education

This one might seem like it’s common sense, but there is a lot more to hunting than what the movies portray. Hunting licenses vary in each state and the rules and regulations are also different everywhere you hunt. It’s so important to have some education on the area that you will be hunting as well as have the proper licensing and permissions to do so. In addition to this point, we cannot stress this enough, ALWAYS practice hunter safety and get educated on best-hunting practices. There are hunter education courses designed for first-time hunters that teach you almost everything you need to know!

Hunting Attire

You want to be prepared for any weather conditions. It’s best to layer up, warmth and comfort are essential. You want to be wearing a jacket, undershirts, and pants such as long underwear, coats, thick socks, boots, hats, rainwear, and gloves. A billed hat is good to have as it shields your eyes from the blinding sunrise or sunset. Another important factor is you want to be incognito and blend into your environment. Dressing in camo is a great option which includes khaki, brown, dark green, and whites mixed to create an illusion of you blending into the environment. Ghillie suits are also a great option. Be sure you are dressing for the type of hunting you’re planning on doing. If it’s fall you might want something lightweight but also make sure it’s waterproof clothing. In the wintertime, you’ll want some insulated camo and if you plan on getting in the water for decoy purposes make sure you’re wearing waders. You want waterproof pants and boots when hunting in those marshy lands. Be sure you check out the requirements in your state for orange blaze accessories which are to distinguish you from other hunters. Orange blaze accessories are offered as vests, hats, beanies, caps, and gloves offered at many outdoor stores. You may need to have different accessories depending on the season so be sure to take a look at the requirements of your state.
