California Rodeo Salinas is one of the top 15 Professional Rodeos in the country and the largest in California. This grand event attracts 50,000 spectators. The rodeo not only brings great competition and exciting events to the city, but it also is proud to be a not-for-profit organization that generates opportunities for over $771,000 to be earned each year by local non-profits and western lifestyle/industry organizations. This unique event will bring in nearly 800 of the best cowboys and cowgirls across the United States to compete with the best animal athletes in some of the most exciting rodeo events with the hopes to add their name to the list of Salinas Champions. As one of the top rodeos in the country, the best cowboys and cowgirls will be competing for more than $300,000 in prize money as well as trophies, which include the famous gold and silver Salinas buckles and the chance to gain entrance into the California Rodeo Hall of Fame. Behind the scenes at the California Rodeo, you’ll find announcers Wayne Brooks and Will Rasmussen calling the action in the arena and on the track, while top PRCA stock contractors buck out their world-class stock in the arena.
Be sure to check out the carnival running 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM daily. There will also be Mutton Busting, Stick Horse Races, an Autograph Party, a Kids Corral, and Kids Dummy Roping. Get ready for Cowboy Church led by Pastor Justin Richter on Sunday, July 21st at 10:30 AM in the main grandstand at the Salinas Sports Complex. The California Rodeo Salinas has been taking place for over 100 years, inducting cowboys and cowgirls into the California Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, and putting on one heck of a show! In the early 1900s, the rodeo was known as the Wild West Show and was a week long event. Over the years, it became known as the “Big Week” leading up to rodeo weekend and hosts over 4,000 people. Many organizations benefit from this annual event including the American Cancer Society, local High School Booster clubs, Ariel Theatrical, local Boy Scouts, California Circuit Final Rodeo, Ca High School Rodeo District #4, California Rodeo Scholarship Program, Cowboy Church International and so many more.
Events including women’s breakaway roping, women’s barrel racing, bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, mutton busting, clown acts, and trick riders take place at the Rodeo Salinas.

Parking for the Rodeo is on-site between the arena and the softball fields (north side of the arena) in LOT A. The fee is $10.00 per vehicle.
