Central Rodeo Cowboys Association (CRCA)

The Central Rodeo Cowboys Association is located in Rockhampton in Queensland. The Association is responsible for determining rodeo regulations. These regulations include standards for caring for the animals and a code of conduct for rodeo participants. The Association provides services for rodeo events in areas that are isolated.
The Central Rodeo Cowboys Association is different from other associations because the procedures are tailored to be appropriate for smaller events. While the service area for the Association is rather large, the Association strives to stay focused on regional events.

The Purpose of the Association

The Central Rodeo Cowboys Association serves many purposes:

  • Creates policies that ensure the safety of both riders and livestock
  • Enforces procedures that is suitable for area rodeo events
  • Communicates rodeo entry information to members through website and newsletters
  • Hosts a finals competition annually

Competition Events

The rodeo competition involves more than bull riding. There are many contests that take place during a rodeo event. Men, women and children are able to compete. Bareback ride, steer wrestling and team roping are routine competition events.
Women are able to compete in barrel racing and breakaway roping, while children have competitions in bull riding and barrel racing, among other contests. There is also a rookie competition for those who are new to rodeo and novice horse barrel races for horses that have not raced previously. The events also include the crowning of a rodeo queen and rodeo princess.
Other events that are part of the competition are:

  • Saddle bronc
  • Open bareback
  • Pee wee barrel race
  • Open bull ride
  • Rope and tie

Rodeo Champions

There are many titles awarded during the rodeo competition. Each competition has a winner and then an overall champion is declared. Separate awards are given for men, women, rookie and junior contests.

  • Jill Lyons is the current champion for the ladies’ open title. Lyons competed in the barrel race competition.
  • Shane Iker is the reigning champion for the men’s open title. Iker won the rope and tie contest.
  • Simon Batts is the current recipient of the award for Bull Fighter of the Year.

Membership

The Association offers memberships to those who are interesting in joining. Members participate in electing a management committee annually. Members are not required to compete in rodeo competitions and junior memberships are available for young rodeo enthusiast.

As COO, Aaron manages operations, using AI to streamline processes and analyze data, ensuring CLN remains a leading voice. With expertise in business development, he innovates and cultivates client relationships, supporting CLN’s exponential growth. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Aaron values his faith, family, and friends, which are the cornerstones of his life. This personal foundation, combined with his professional expertise, makes him a trusted and authoritative voice in the western lifestyle community. Aaron’s commitment to philanthropy is the bedrock of his personal ethos. He actively supports local Arizona organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, Chandler Compadres, Horses Help, Harris Brothers Charity Foundation, and the American Heart Association (among others), reflecting his dedication to giving back and strengthening the community he calls home. Through his work, Aaron aims to preserve and promote the traditions of the west, ensuring that the spirit of the cowboy lives on for future generations.
