The Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is often termed the “Daddy of Em All,” and there is good reason for this. This PRCA Pro Rodeo has been a local tradition for Cheyenne, Wyoming residents since 1897, and it is known as the world’s largest rodeo event held outdoors. This year’s event brought together those of all ages for two weeks in July to enjoy a wide range of events and activities, and next year’s event will be held in Cheyenne, Wyoming from July 18 through July 31. Whether you are a cowboy or a cowgirl, you may be wondering what this PRCA Pro Rodeo event has to offer.

While the main highlights of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo are the cowboy and cowgirl rodeo events, there is also much more to enjoy as well. The 2015 rodeo included trick-riding, behind-the-chutes tours, a wild horse race, a chuck wagon cook-off, a pancake breakfast, an old frontier town, a Native American village with the Ak-Chin Indian community, a saloon, dancing and more. There are even parades, live entertainment, a carnival midway, antique carriages and classic cars. This is an event in Cheyenne, Wyoming that has it all. Whether you are planning to attend next year’s rodeo with friends or with the whole family, this is an event that has something for everyone to love.

The Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo would not be called the Daddy of Em All without plenty of cowboy and cowgirl rodeo action as well. The Pro Rodeo events were televised on the Cowboy Lifestyle network, and there was more than $1 million in prize money given away. Some of the top winners in the PRCA events include Seth Hardwich in the bareback competition, Kyle Irwin in the steer wrestling competition, Scottie Knapp in the bull riding competition, Trevor Brazile in the team roping competition and Jesse Wright in the Saddle Bronc competition.
Now is the perfect time to start planning your trip to the next Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo schedule for the second half of July in 2016. Cheyenne is conveniently located close to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons National Park, and many who spend time at the Daddy of Em All will also take time to explore all that the rest of Wyoming has to offer as well. This is the perfect way to spend your next family vacation.

About the Author:

Biography:

I grew up on a Midwest farm with dirt under my fingernails and the sound of wind rustling through cornfields. My childhood was all about 4H – raising pigs and horses, learning to bake and sew, and discovering the magic of transforming a garden into jars of summer sunshine. Those years taught me the value of hard work, the thrill of seeing a project through to the end, and the simple joy of creating something beautiful. A country girl with a need for speed and a thirst for adventure. Maybe that's why I love the feeling of wind in my hair – whether I'm cruising down a dusty road on my Harley or tackling a mountain trail on my trusty mountain bike. Some of my earliest memories of rodeo are watching my father compete at small local events. That's also where my love for country music comes in – long car rides listening to 8 tracks. The lyrics and melodies always spoke to my soul. These days, you'll find me cheering on the cowboys and cowgirls at rodeos, two-stepping to my favorite bands, belting out a country tune at a concert or sharing stories and laughter with friends around a bonfire. When I'm not soaking up the country life and getting my boots dirty, I'm a nurse, caring for folks in my community. Follow along for more stories from the heart of rodeo and country life!
