The Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is known as the Daddy of ’Em All in terms of pure rodeo fun for the whole family. The PRCA has previously awarded the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo as the best Large Outdoor Rodeo Of The Year event more than 15 times, and the same is expected to happen from July 21 to July 30, 2017.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Cheyenne, WY is a known as a bastion of rodeo culture. In the Americas, rodeos are celebrated from Argentina to Brazil and from Costa Rica to Mexico, but rodeo organizers in those countries agree that the PRCA is the ultimate celebration of the Western taurine and equestrian arts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”34350″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A Family Tradition
At the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, cowboys compete for more than just the $1 million in cash prizes; they know they are keeping Western rodeo culture alive for the benefit of those in attendance. There is a strong focus on family fun with the Dinner Bell Derby, which features mares and colts running on Saturday and Sunday; this event is a favorite among children. The Wild Horse Race dates back to the days of the American Frontier when cowboys would attempt to saddle wild horses for a full lap around the track; this is a competition that requires healthy amounts of courage and skill.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The main competitive events of the PRCA include the Cinch Shootout and the classic Championship Bull Riding Finals, but there is a lot more to explore and discover in Cheyenne WY: the Old West Museum opens daily at 8:00 a.m., the United States Air Force Thunderbirds will soar on July 26 at 9:30 a.m., there is a daily pancake breakfast to enjoy every morning, and the historic Grand Parade can be seen on July 22, 25, 27, and 29.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”35484″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” >A Diversity of Fun
Adults in attendance will not want to miss Frontier Nights, which feature live performances by Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Jason Derulo, and even Flo Rida. Native American dance, music, storytelling, and indigenous culture can be appreciated at the Indian Village on selected days.
At the Buckin’ A Saloon, the focus is on enjoying ice-cold beer and dancing; there is also The Garden for meeting professional rodeo legends and listening to modern country music stars such as the angelic Ciara Rae as well as Mexican American norteño and cumbia bands such as Grupo Control and Tropical Kaoba.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]No Western rodeo celebration would be complete without delicious food, and this is the focus of the Chuckwagon Cookoff, in which competing chefs are given ingredients to recreate meals prepared on the wagons and campsites of the American frontier days. This is one of the final competitions and one of the most beloved by visitors.
