With 2022 almost over, CKP Insurance is looking back on the Indian National Finals Rodeo 2022 that took place at the South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from October 18th through the 22nd! CKP Insurance has been a long-time supporter of not only the INFR, but also the athletes that compete at Indian rodeos all year long. CKP Insurance takes great pride in supporting the communities they work in and by supporting Indian athletes, CKP is able to help them get down to the road to compete at the INFR and many other rodeos across the country.
What makes the INFR so amazing is that they are bringing together Indian athletes from tribes across the nation. In fact, the Indian Pro Rodeo is one of the only sporting events where children can compete with their parents and grandparents. Contestants aged from 8-80 can compete in the Indian Pro Rodeo and with 11 Regions within the United States and Canada, there is a ton of opportunity for them to get a chance at competing in Las Vegas each year. The competition was steep this year at the finals but here are your 2022 Champions!
The INFR also has powerful ties with a variety of youth organizations within the sport of rodeo. This includes the National High School Rodeo Association and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. This allows young athletes to work through the ranks and progress into competing in the INFR while staying involved within the organization. The INFR Scholarship Program is also something that they offer to the youth competitors. Since 2005, the INFR has provided over $50,000 in scholarship assistance to members of the organization, and take pride in seeing the INFR Cowboys and Cowgirls achieve their educational goals. They also added Jr and Sr events to the finals in 2010.
The INFR has been in existence since 1976. The first-ever Indian Nationals Finals Rodeo started in Salt Lake City, Utah when several champions Indian cowboys and cowgirls from different regions all came together to compete against each other. Since then the INFR has expanded tremendously. Sanctioning nearly 700 rodeos nationwide and offering annual prize money exceeding over a million dollars. The INFR is the largest and oldest Indian Organization in the world- in 2022 there were 75 total tribes represented.
A huge thanks to CKP Insurance for supporting the INFR and many of the athletes with their entries and sponsorship as they get down the road! We can’t wait to bring you more stories brought to you by CKP Insurance and the communities they support. You can learn more about the INFR here: https://infr.org
