CLN Exclusive: Cassandra Sotos Debut Single – “Annie Oakley”

Written by

NASHVILLE, TN (April 30, 2020) – Cassandra Sotos’ debut single “Annie Oakley” will be released April 30, followed by an official music video May 4, premiering on The Cowboy Lifestyle Network.

“Annie Oakley” is Sotos’ debut single and inspired by the legacy of renowned sharpshooter Annie Oakley. While the international-touring violinist is not putting her fiddle down, she is stepping into the spotlight as an artist and singer/songwriter. The rockin’ track is part Joan Jett, part Charlie Daniels, and all badass.

“It’s not a revenge song, it’s not a woman-scorned song,” Cassandra said. “It’s about empowerment. Annie wasn’t just one of best female sharpshooters of her time, she was one of the best sharpshooters of her time, period. Her legacy inspired me to write this song, be empowered and hopefully empower others. This song is all about saying don’t mess with me. I want all women to feel that way, regardless of what they do for a living or for fun.”

Sotos’ journey as a musician started at the age of four when she first picked up her violin – by 13, she was performing in honkytonks and dive bars. After a brief detour as an industrial engineer in New York City, she realized she needed to re-devote her life to music. She moved to Nashville immediately. Since she has been known primarily for her live and studio work in country, rock, pop, and Bollywood.

Cassandra has toured across the world, most notably a two-year tour with Indian pop star Arijit Singh. His MTV India Tour was the largest tour in the country’s history, and the rest of the world tour included sold-out shows across North America, Asia, Africa, and Europe, including the iconic Wembley Arena in London. She has also recorded and performed with The Wildflowers (Tony Harnell of TNT and Bumblefoot of Guns ‘N’ Roses), ABA (Italy), Vitera, and Tequila Rock Revolution, and is a part of the Wrangler National Patriot American 300 Tour.
