From Iron Man competitor to country musician, Ryan Kinder is a force to be reckoned with across the board. As a proud independent artist, Kinder boasts over 95 million streams thanks to his perfectly crafted country songs and touring history, securing the opening slot for a huge tour with ZZ Top and John Forgerty.
Kinder’s new record Room to Dream, releasing July 30th, is a compilation of songs that do just that, offer a space for music that shouldn’t necessarily go together, but do as they all ride that theme of dreaming.
“I think people might be taken back by the sounds, genre-wise, that the album takes. There’s been so many musical influences in my life and I wanted to tie them all together with an underlying theme, but still have the opportunity to record so many songs that I love, that don’t sound like they should be on the same album.”
Anyone who’s a fan of Dallas Smith (solo artist and lead singer of Default), will absolutely love this new album. With a healthy mix of “grunge” country and rock tones in each song, there’s something for everyone.
Outside of music, Ryan is currently training for the upcoming Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI. He’s going to complete this 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run in honor of his late friend who passed away from cancer and always wanted to compete in the race. Ironman will be partnering with Ryan’s foundation, Kinder’s Kids- an organization that collects toys for children who have been affected by natural disasters. The event in Hawaii, Kinder’s Kids Kahiau All Together will partner with Ironman to collect toys for children affected by the pandemic in Hawaii which brought tourism, the Islands primary source of income, to a halt.
Kinder’s Kids, started after an image from the Tuscaloosa tornado stuck with him–a neighboring child clutching her teddy bear, surrounded by wreckage where their house used to be. Ryan states, “I remember seeing this kid hanging onto that bear and realized that’s all she had left, the only thing the family had left. That image stuck with me for a long time. So my wife and I decided to start asking my tour venues to donate a toy with every show.” Want to help? Donate online on Kinder’s Kids website.
