Curtis Grimes was a young man with brilliant prospects when he arrived at Centenary College of Louisiana on a scholarship for baseball as a pitcher. After a childhood filled with baseball, signing early and going to state his junior year, one would confidently assume how his current career resume would read.
But here is what it actually says. Eleven #1 hit singles on the Texas Radio charts, a #1 hit song on the Power Source Country Christian Chart, over 30 million streams on Spotify, and awards that have been piling up over the years including “New Male Vocalist of the Year,” “Male Vocalist of the Year,” “Entertainer of the Year” and “Country Christian Song of the Year,” twice, at the Texas Regional Radio Awards. It‘s all rather amazing that at one time baseball was all that mattered. Music wasn’t even in the picture. The night that would put him on the music path for good came in 2008 when he won a battle of the bands contest at Stubbs in Austin. The prize? A 15 minute opening spot for the Kenny Chesney/LeAnn Rimes tour. It was a done deal after that; another music marvel was born.
Grimes has celebrated several album releases over the years. In 2012 he released “Live From The Parish” and the hit single “Home To Me” was picked up by Supercuts for a national commercial spot with a cameo acting performance by Grimes. His first studio album “Our Side Of The Fence” in 2014 brought Grimes his first #1 hit single in Texas with “The Cowboy Kind.”
Since then he has roped in eleven more #1’s, four of those off his latest album “Undeniably Country.” His latest acoustic EP “Acoustic Collection” features “Cowboy Constitution,” a reflection on the true heart, soul, and spirit of our genuine cowboys. The song is Grimes’ tribute to the men and women who walk the walk and talk the talk. His new forthcoming album is slated to spring up in the summer of 2021. Curtis Grimes’ music is 100% homegrown country steeped in southern values and Christian charity.
