CLN Music Mondays: Revisiting Classic Country Songs

Written by

For this week’s Music Monday, we wanted to go a little retro and find some of our favorite classic country songs. We hope enjoy this week’s throwback and hope to include more of these down the road. Have some favorites? Make sure to let us know in the comments!

Amarillo by Morning – George Strait

This wouldn’t be a classic country throwback without “Amarillo by Morning”. One of the more popular songs by George Strait, it’s one that won’t go out of style any time soon. This is what we call a timeless classic.

Remember When – Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson is a staple of 90s country music. “Remember When” is a song now that comes on the radio and you can’t help but sing along and feel a bit of nostalgia for the country music of the 90s.

She’s Not the Cheatin Kind – Brooks & Dunn

I am going to have a really hard time not putting more than one Brooks and Dunn song on this list. This classic duo never gets old and this is one of my long time favorite tunes. Some other notable songs by these guys are “Neon Moon”, “Dear Maria”, “Boot Scootin Boogie”. Really, you can’t go wrong with any Brooks and Dunn song!

I Love the Way You Love Me – Calvin Charles

This is a true country love song. I’m a bit biased because it was played at my parent’s wedding but it’s a great song no matter which way you cut it.

I Hope You Dance – Lee Ann Womack

I am throwing it over to the ladies of classic country, because they definitely deserve a shoutout as well. And this song right here was one of the best. It is everything we want a class country song to be, encouraging, uplifting and tells a story. Thanks Lee Ann for this gem!

Killin’ Time – Clint Black

Thank you Clint Black for your contribution to this classic country music list because this is truly one of my favorite classics. When people say that country music isn’t what it used to be, this is what they are referring to because everything about this song screams classic, 90s country, even though technically, it came out in 1989.

Alright ya’ll, this was just the beginning of our classic throwbacks. Stay tuned for more Music Monday throwbacks each month!
