Cody Nite Rodeo 2017

Written by

The Cody Nite Rodeo will be in Cody Wyoming at its Stampede Park. It is the longest-running rodeo and goes from June 1 to August 31 every year, making it the only place in the USA that has a rodeo performance nightly. Gates open at the 6,000-seat beautiful stadium above the Shoshone River at 7:00 PM, and events start at 8:00 PM.

Cody Wyoming has been named the “Rodeo Capital of the World.” The Cody Nite Rodeo, the longest running successful professional rodeo, continues the annual Buffalo Bill Cody Stampede that occurs annually on July 1 through 4, which is one of the Million Dollar Gold Tour Series’ nine stops that has the top participants competing. The Stampede commemorates Buffalo Bill and his Wild West Show as well as its rodeos, bullriding, parades, dances, gambling, and celebrations that began there over 100 years ago.

The riders are professionals tuning up for the PRCA circuit as well as local, national, and international cowboys and cowgirls from all over the nation who flock to Cody Wyoming, which is only 50 miles east of Yellowstone.

They come to the Stampede and the Cody Nite Rodeo to compete and show what the “Wild West” was like to travelers throughout the summer. Famous participants and top bucking stock in many rodeos come from the Cody Rodeo. Cody’s World Champions include Chris LeDoux, Jim Houston, Tom Ferguson,, Dan Mortensen, and Deb Greenough. Pro Rodeo Hall of Famers include Mel Stonehouse, Bill Smith, Nick Knight, Floyd Stillings, Cecil McMillian, John Kirkpatrick, Arthur Holman, and Normal Price.

In addition to bullriding, there is bronc riding, barrel racing, calf roping, calf scrambling, animal athletes, along with many other competitions and games, and even rodeo clowns. Gates open at 7:00 PM so that you and your family can come early to meet the bullfighters and clowns, get pictures taken on Hollywood the Bull, get the children’s faces painted, and shop at the concessions and in the exclusive souvenir store.

Tickets

You can purchase tickets at the gate or, if you desire to buy in advance, at the Cody Chamber of Commerce, local Cody businesses, and at the ticket wagon in City Park. It is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 7 through 12, and ages 6 and under are free.
