Community Support Drives Redding Rodeo’s Next Chapter

For more than seven decades, Redding, California, has celebrated its western roots with one of the most recognized rodeos on the West Coast. The tradition continues as the 78th Annual Redding Rodeo approaches, bringing fans back for another year of “Buckin’ by the River.” With preparations well underway, 2026 is shaping up to be a year that honors the rodeo’s long history while also introducing exciting updates that support its future.

New 45-Year Lease Keeps Redding Riding Strong

Thanks to strong community partnerships, including key support from the Redding Rancheria, the Redding Rodeo Association has finalized a new 45‑year lease for the rodeo grounds. This long‑term agreement ensures the event will remain in its current location for decades to come. With the lease in place, the association has begun planning and implementing improvements. Attendees this year will notice new VIP platform areas and future upgrades such as new grandstands designed to enhance the overall spectator experience.

Kick off Rodeo Week at the Official Redding Rodeo Launch Party!

The Redding Rodeo Association is introducing a brand‑new tradition this year with the Redding Rodeo Launch Party, kicking off rodeo week in the center of the arena on Saturday, May 9th. This fresh event replaces the longtime Steak Feed and brings a more energetic, family‑friendly atmosphere to start the celebration. Guests can look forward to an evening filled with live entertainment, great food, and activities for all ages, capturing the community spirit that defines the Redding Rodeo. The lineup includes music from Jake Jacobson, line dancing led by Better in Boots, and the always‑popular Mutton Bustin’. Tri‑tip sandwich dinners will be served, with kids meal options available, and a full bar open throughout the night.

All Redding Rodeo performances begin at 7:00 PM, with gates opening at 5:00 PM so you can grab your seats, enjoy the vendors, and soak in the pre‑show fun.

Wednesday, May 13th | Native American Night

Join us as we kick off Rodeo Week with Native American Night, hosted in partnership with Redding Rancheria. This evening honors the culture, heritage, and contributions of Native American communities in the North State and beyond.

This year’s rodeo will place special emphasis on Native American performances presented by the Redding Rancheria. Their participation adds cultural depth to the event and reflects the strong relationship between the Rancheria and the rodeo community.

Wear your pink and join us for Buckin’ Cancer Night, presented by Pendleton Whisky and Blach Beverage. We’re turning the rodeo pink to honor those who’ve battled cancer, those still fighting, and the loved ones we carry with us.

Saturday, May 16  | America 250 Years | SOLD OUT!

Saturday evening’s performance celebrates America’s 250 years, presented by Sierra Pacific Industries. Join us as we honor the spirit, history, and heritage of the United States and pay tribute to the generations who built and defended our nation.

Redding Rodeo Church Returns for Year Two

The Redding Rodeo Association is excited to host the 2nd Annual Redding Rodeo Church. This free community event begins at 5pm, when the gates open for attendees to enjoy favorite vendors, kids activities for the little cowboys and cowgirls, and more. Live music kicks off at 6pm with Nashville recording artist Chad Bushnell, leading into the main program at 7pm. Rounding out the evening is a line‑dancing after‑party and live horse‑breaking demonstration by Todd Pierce of Riding High Ministries. As an extension of the Redding Rodeo, this gathering brings together the spirit of the rodeo and a message of faith in a warm, welcoming atmosphere

Taryn Cantrell is an Arizona native with a lifelong connection to the rodeo arena. From her roots in barrel racing to her role as the 2017 Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen and her involvement with the Cowgirls Historical Foundation, Taryn celebrates her western heritage with enthusiasm and authenticity. Taryn holds a degree in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University, allowing her to merge her passion for music with her love of cowboy culture. As a singer and bassist, Taryn performs with bands across Phoenix and beyond including Great American Regret, Honey Marie Knight, and Sareena Dominguez. Taryn is passionate about blending her diverse interests to offer an authentic and engaging perspective on journalism. Her goal is to connect readers to the events, concerts, and celebrations that matter most, bringing them closer to the experiences she treasures.
