Dating back to the late 1800s, the Union Pacific Railroad made its way to Cheyenne at a point known as the “Crow Creek Crossing.”
This was not only one of the most amazing accomplishments of the old west, but it also gave birth to a new world of hope and prosperity to the Cheyenne region.
These cowboys would compete against one another by riding bucking horses while showing off their cowboy skill and style.
According to Cheyenne Frontier Days, “On September 23, 1897, organizers harnessed the spirit of these impromptu matches of cowboy skill, and the Daddy of ‘em All® was born.”
This year was a true celebration of the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days for the whole family to enjoy.
There is so much to do throughout the two weeks of the Cheyenne Frontier Days it is impossible not to have a good time. From the CFD Old West Museum to the Indian Village, submerging yourself in the rich history and culture of the Old Frontier Town, is truly an experience of a lifetime.
Other activities included the Chuckwagon Cookoff and the CFD Buckin’A Saloon Coors Tent, CFD Western Heritage Grand Parades and Art Shows, the good times keep on rolling in Cheyenne. Especially, during free pancake breakfasts. Besides, who doesn’t love eating some hot fluffy flapjacks straight off the grill?
Prior to the adrenaline packed rodeo performances on July 23rd, the Cheyenne Frontier Days PRCA Rodeo audience witnessed multiple astounding plane fly-bys from the USAF Thunderbirds.
Featuring, John Mellecamp, Lady Antebellum, Gary Allan, Florida Georgia Line, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock and Tim McGraw.
Cheyenne Frontier Days even experienced Championship Bull Riding (CBR) World Finals during Frontier Nights®! In fact, CLN’s previous PRCA Celebrity of the Month Sage Steele Kimzey stole the show as he finished at the top of the 2014 CBR World Standings.
Cowboy Lifestyle Network never has a dull moment at Cheyenne Frontier Days. After all, the Daddy of ‘em All® employees and volunteer staff are some of the nicest people you will come across in the sport of rodeo.
In addition, CLN was privileged to spend some quality time with PRCA’s favorite Rodeo Announcer, Justin Mckee, on the “National Day of the Cowboy.”
The combination of this historical rodeo along with the amazing people that make this rodeo happen is why the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo has been awarded the “PRCA Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year” 15 times by rodeo cowboys and cowgirls.
It’s the volunteers, the contestants, the rodeo announcers, the judges and last but certainly not least, its the fans that make this rodeo a #1 favorite.
Such as, the contestants featured in CLN’s Cheyenne Frontier Days 2014 Highlight Video, including, Trevor Brazile, Kaycee Feild, Richmond Champion, Kaley Bass, Laura Lambert, Sherry Cervi, Austin Meier and K.C. Jones.
CLN is already looking forward to next year’s Cheyenne Frontier Days in 2015 and we hope you are too, Click On’ and Hang On’!
