Are you curious to know the history behind Days of ‘47? Brigham Young and a determined company of Mormon pioneers became the leaders of one of the pronounced treks in American history. These leaders realized their dreams upon arriving at the Great Salt Lake Valley, they drove wagons and pulled handcarts with horses and oxen with thousands of pioneers. These pioneers trekked their way across the plains to a widespread desert landscape that became known as the Utah Territory while carrying a strong vow to American’s belief in freedom of religion. These pioneers sought to create a new life as they all had come together from many nations. The early Utah pioneers expedition has demonstrated the faith, courage, and foresight that continues to influence pioneers today.
Through various activities and celebrations each year, The Days of ‘47 remembers those outstanding 1847 pioneers and all those who followed. The Days of ‘47 believes the example of the pioneers’ courage of the past and present creates a vision for the combined future that everyone can follow as a new Pioneer Spirit. To honor Utah’s early and modern pioneers and to keep their pioneering spirit alive, The Days of ‘47, Inc. is a private, nonprofit, all-volunteer, and charitable corporation.
