Dodge City PRCA Roundup Rodeo 2017

Written by

One of the most action-packed tournaments within the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuit is returning to historic Dodge City in Kansas. The 2017 Dodge City Roundup Rodeo will run from August 1 to August 6 in a place known as the Cowboy Capital of The World.
The Dodge City Roundup Rodeo is an American tradition that dates back to the 1970s. As the only event in Kansas aligned with the Wrangler Million Dollar Tour Rodeo, rodeo fans are treated to some of the most exciting PRCA bullriding action in the Americas.
It is important to note the the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour events that will take place at the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo are part of the larger PRCA World Standings, which means that the top bull riders will qualify to compete in Las Vegas for the Wrangler National Finals. The focus on PRCA bullriding is in line with the heritage of Dodge City as one of the wildest frontier towns during the Old West period of American history. This was a town where outlaws and rough riders were chased by legendary deputies such as Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson in the late 19th century; as such, residents of Dodge City identify with the daring spirit of the bull riders.
Aside from the electrifying PRCA bullriding competitions, families will find lots of fun and entertainment during the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo. The Miss Rodeo Kansas beauty pageant features some of the most beautiful women of the midwestern United States. Country music fans can enjoy music by Blackhawk and Phil Vassar ahead of the main riding events on July 29. Trick rider and gymnast Kyzer Stoddard will perform his famous Roman Riding feats while rodeo clown Andy Burelle makes a fool out of the bulls and cowboys alike. Delicious Dodge City burgers and barbecue dinners can be enjoyed for as little as $3.
The Dodge City Rodeo organization is a non-profit entity that works towards preserving the Old West heritage of this frontier town.
Tickets for the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo run between $15 and $29 depending on the event, for more information visit http://www.dodgecityroundup.org/. The Cowboy Lifestyle Network is providing media coverage for this PRCA event along with the Papa John’s Pizza Road Team, Earnhardt Auto Centers and the Ak-Chin Native American Community
