The excitement begins on July 25 when the annual Eagle County Rodeo and Fair take place at the Eagle County Fairgrounds. PRCA athletes from across the country will participate in nightly events that occur through July 28. The variety of rough-stock and timed events will have spectators cheering and rooting for their favorite cowboys and cowgirls.
History of the Eagle County Rodeo
The first Eagle County Fair took place in 1939. The success of the event enabled it to be repeated and grow each year. By 1960, the Eagle Valley Roping Club finished construction of rodeo arena on the fairground site. During the fair, the Colorado Amateur Cowboy Association held three events and the first local rodeo was born. Since that time, the fair and PRCA rodeo grew in popularity, which necessitated the expansion of facilities to accommodate the ever-increasing number of participants and guests.
