John McFee guest from Doobie Brothers
After many successful years as an Eagle, Schmit now performs as a solo act to enthusiastic fans. Schmit started his concert to a packed house, with others standing in the casino to enjoy his music. The performance included songs from his new, critically acclaimed solo album “Leap of Faith.” Appearing as a special guest of Schmidt was John McFee from the Doobie Brothers, playing many instruments and back up singing to add to the show. In addition to performing his newer releases, Schmit wowed the audience with favorite Eagles songs. Attendees sang and danced throughout much of his hour-and-a-half-long show.

Schmit sang “Take It Easy” as a tribute to Eagles band member Glenn Frey, who passed away in January 2016. Schmit also performed “Love Will Keep Us Alive,” which he wrote, and sang lead vocals on for the Eagles, “Hell Freezes Over” reunion album. The audience at The Lounge sang along for the entire song.
While probably best known for his time as an Eagle, Schmit also played with the band Poco. He wrote and sang the song, “Keep on Tryin’,” one of Poco’s most successful hits. Schmit joined the Eagles in the late 1970s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Eagles in 1988. In 2016, Schmit joined the rest of the Eagles as honorees of the 39th Annual Kennedy Center Honors Celebration of the Arts.
Today, Schmit says his wife is his greatest muse. He wrote the song “It’s Alright,” an intimate love song from his “Leap of Faith” album, while she traveled to Hawaii for a long and relaxing stay. Schmidt missed her so much; he said the words just came naturally to him.
In 2017, Schmit began a West Coast tour, which includes numerous stops in California. Still a favorite among fans, it doesn’t look like he plans to slow down anytime soon. Visit Schmit’s website for more information about his albums and upcoming performances.
