A staple in rodeo, for a long time, has been the rodeo royalty. Tough and beautiful, these women help support and promote the sport. Also, for a long time, a staple in their closet has been a Julie Ewing design. Julie has turned out some of the most spectacular clothing and accessories in western fashion.
Beginning in California, she started out beading halters. Shortly after, Julie expanded her creativity into clothing and design. Being a part of the rodeo community, queens were immediately attracted to her talent. It wasn’t too long before she had a winner at Miss Rodeo America wearing her fashions and J Ewing Designs was born. Now a days you can see her designs grace queen contestants, horse shows, pageants, and at the NFR.
As talented as she was, the designer recalls the relentless hours put into even one of her designs. Julie does all fringing and embellishments by hand herself. With custom pieces like this, the details are meticulous and time-consuming. But, her passion is as strong as ever.
“There is something to be said to be very excited everyday, even though things are challenging.”-Julie Ewing
Even though she designs mostly for the western woman she draws from high fashion such as Alexander McQueen, Versace, and Gucci. She told us that her dream collaboration would be with the designer Elie Saab for his intricate and elegant style. Most of her clothing and accessories she works with leather. The texture and use of leather will never leave from western culture. Blending the two styles produces a unique and modern western wear.
Julie’s style is recognizable to anyone who has the pleasure of knowing her designs. She continues to produce creations that she hopes makes the wearer feel beautiful and confident. She says in the future she wants to keep designing and sharing her brand with people. Her website j-ewingdesigns.com displays her fashion and accessories as well as how to reach her. You can also find her on Facebook and Insatgram. In one of her designs, she incorporates the saying.
“We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.”
Well, the tracks left by Julie Ewing have indeed been beautiful, inspirational, and unparalleled.
