Mounted Shooting is one of the most exhilarating equestrian sports to watch, and the Flagstaff Pro Rodeo will feature an entire action-packed weekend of it! There will be a shootout June 29th-30th, and there will also be a half time show performance during the rodeo on the 29th.
For those who are new to the sport of Mounted Shooting, the rules are simple! Contestants are required to ride a pattern where they attempt to shoot 10 balloons as quickly as possible. The cowboys and cowgirls competing in the timed event use two .45 caliber single action revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition. It’s no wonder why this sport is a crowd favorite!
