Ford Super Duty Line of Trucks Offer Increased Towing Options Earnhardt Ford

Written by

With a major redesign, the 2017 Ford Super Duty line boasts improvements in its chassis, powertrain and technology features, making these vehicles better and more efficient than ever.

Earnhardt Auto Centers offers a complete line of trucks, including the Ford F series.
The new High-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body, combined with an all-new fully boxed frame reduces these vehicles’ weight by almost 350 pounds while increasing the chassis strength by 24 times over the previous frame, according to the Ford website. Ford used the weight savings for components that provide more towing and hauling capability than ever before.

Powered by an optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke® turbo diesel V8, the Ford F-450 SuperCrew 4×4 truck delivers maximum gooseneck towing of 32,500 pounds – 1,290 pounds more than its nearest competitor. Maximum fifth-wheel towing increased to 27,500 pounds, 2,500 pounds more than its closest competitor. Conventional towing limit rose to 21,000 pounds, 1,000 pounds better than the nearest competitor truck, without the need for a weight-distributing hitch. Maximum payload is rated at up to 7,630 pounds.

Other improvements include a new, fully boxed frame made up of more than 95 percent high-strength steel, up to 24 times stiffer than the previous frame. The aluminum alloy new body is also more dent and ding resistant than the last steel body.

Ford F-Series Super Duty models also offer adaptive cruise control and collision warning, with brake support for heavy trailers. This allows drivers with tow loads to travel mountain grades and still maintain speed.

Other features of the Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles include trailer reverse guidance, with visual cues and tips to help ease backing up a trailer. The first-ever factory-available trailer camera can also be custom-placed on a trailer to help improve vision when backing up.

The Ford F-Series Super Duty is the country’s best-selling heavy-duty pickup truck, according to the Ford website. If you’re in the market for a new truck, visit Earnhardt Ford today!
