Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo History (FWSSR)

The first stock show took place during springtime along the banks of Marine Creek in 1896. Another show was held that same year in October and featured the first parade. In 1904, Bill Pickett introduced his bulldogging act during the show.
Ranching skills and Wild West shows became part of the FWSSR. An official rodeo took place during the stock show two years later. By 2013, 157,800 spectators attended the rodeo.
Today, more than one million people visit the Fort Worth Stock Show and attend the rodeo to watch some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the world compete for more than $500, 000 in prize money.

On January 13, the festivities commence with the All-Western Parade downtown. The grand procession includes marching bands and equestrian groups along with horse-drawn elaborately decorated floats.
