Garth Brooks Sells Out Minneapolis

Written by

Wow. That was the statement I kept hearing all around me. Just wow. And I have to admit, that was my first statement too because as much as I thought I was prepared for a Garth Brooks stadium show, I wasn’t. Surprised with tickets by fellow radio personality Gary Michaels, how could I say no? Fun company, downtown Minneapolis, and Garth Brooks…I was totally excited to see what everyone had been talking about since the last Garth show in the Twin Cities!

Seeing Garth in a smaller setting just a couple months prior for a Q&A with other radio personalities was quite the bucket list item. And then to be able to see him AND all 70,000 fans flock to the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Minnesota was insanely impressive! There were even some radio stations like WQCC Kicks 106.3 out of LaCrosse Wisconsin that brought their loyal fans on buses to the show.

Coming into the stadium was as smooth as concerts can be. Then walking through the doors, you are greeted with this massive amount of stands full of people anxious for the country superstar to take the stage. Merch was sprinkled throughout the stadium with lines of people wanting to have more than just photos and a hangover to commemorate the event.

As Garth took the stage decked out in denim including the iconic Wrangler patch on his denim jeans. The crowd roared with excitement yet, it was unmatched to the crazy loud sound of the fans when those three little notes later that were played on the guitar for the song “Friends in Low Places.” A steady flow of his hits from the 90s opened up and didn’t stop until it was time for everyone to go home. Plus he also pulled in some of his favorites like “Fishin in the Dark” by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

The Oklahoma native talked about his love for the Twin Cities, stating that how some of his earliest radio spins were in this area. It’s funny to think how the midwest isn’t really known for breaking new artists, but Cody Jinks and Whitey Morgan have spoken about it in the past too. Some of their earliest out of state shows were running up interstate 35 to play shows in Minnesota.

All in all, if you are a Garth Brooks fan his stadium shows will not disappoint. Plus, you probably will walk away with a new concert buddy. Mainly because everyone around you is singing and happy as well, and you can’t help but stand up, grab your neighbor, and sing when “friends in low places” is played! Garth also has mentioned a new documentary series that A&E Network is shooting during the tour and that later this year he will drop a new album called “Fun.”
