The hottest spring rodeo event of the season is the Gary Hardt Memorial Spring Rodeo of 2016 that is set to take place in Payson, Arizona on May 19-21, 2016. This event is expected to be filled with fun and entertainment for all ages, as has become customary for all events that the PRCA sponsors.
This particular PRCA rodeo has gained its claim to fame for being known as the “World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo.” Every year, the Gary Hardt Memorial Spring Rodeo is organized, promoted and staged in the Payson area, and part of what makes this particular rodeo so special is that it has been put on for the past 132 years. So popular has this PRCA rodeo event become that True West Magazine nicknamed it the “Best Small Town Rodeo” back in 2011.
Some of the most anticipated events set to take place at the event this year include barrel racing, a rodeo dance and a special patriot performance. With such exciting events that take place every year, it’s no wonder that thousands of attendees flock to Arizona every year to experience all that the rodeo has to offer.
The Gary Hardt Memorial Spring Rodeo event is also popular among many citizens because many of the proceeds generated by the rodeo are donated to charities that support breast cancer and a variety of other causes. This PRCA rodeo event even goes so far as to host a “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event on Friday night, May 20, in order to generate support and money for the breast cancer cause.
One of the most notable entertainers that attendees can expect to see performing at the event include fourth generation rodeo cowboy, Donnie Landis. Not only does he participate in rodeo events, but he also does a variety of other specialty acts, some of which include his famous clown and comedy acts.
Some of the other events that contestants can enroll in at the Gary Hardt Memorial rodeo include mutton bustin’ and youth steer events. To top it all off, there are plenty of local attractions that rodeo attendees can also partake in, some of which include hiking trails, fishing, camping, bird watching, star gazing, hunting, museums and site seeing in general.
No matter what type of event or attraction you’re interested in, you can find something at the Gary Hardt Memorial Spring Rodeo in Payson, Arizona, to provide you and the entire family with an entertaining time.
