Written by

Cheyenne, Wyoming – Mark your calendars for Hell on Wheels Rodeo and Chuck Wagon Dinner Series kicking off June 9th through September 8th. Presented by Visit Cheyenne, it features the award-winning 3 Lazy R Chuck Wagon and the fastest-growing open rodeo series in the West. The time is now to immerse yourself in the capital of Wyoming with its rich Western culture.

The Rodeo

The Hell on Wheels Rodeo and Chuck Wagon Dinner Series is entering its fourth season with an open rodeo format. This means that anyone has the opportunity to pay the entry fee and compete in nine different rodeo events. The 2022 season presented a total payout of more than $52,000 to the competing cowboys and cowgirls.

The rodeo is complete with rough stock and timed events which include breakaway, tie-down, and team roping, steer wrestling, bareback, and saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, novice, and standard bull riding. After the 90-minute performance, slack will begin featuring roping and barrel racing contestants who weren’t chosen for the main performance.

Chuck Wagon Dinner

The introduction of food trucks was the Chuck Wagon. Cowboys had long days working in the field tending to the cattle herds which brought on quite the appetite. The only solution was to bring their food with them. They loaded up their Chuck Wagons with enough food to feed an army of hungry wranglers. This was an essential part of the cowboy way of life. 3 Lazy R Chuck Wagon has been sharing its award-winning brisket, beans, potatoes, and cobbler for the past three summers with the visitors of Hell on Wheels Rodeo and Chuck Wagon Dinner. You have the opportunity to experience a taste of the true West in Cheyenne. The dinner kicks off at 5:30 pm on rodeo nights.
