Howdy Helotes, Texas! I hope you are ready for four nights of the action-packed carnival and three nights of PRCA rodeo. This will be the 56th year of Cornyval and the 36th year of the PRCA Rodeo. The Cornyval will be Thursday, April 29th through May 2nd and PRCA rodeo will be kicking off on Thursday, April 29th through Saturday, May 1st!
I’m telling you this event is bigger and better every year! It’s the fastest-growing rodeo spectacular in the country. Each night is something special. Thursday will be supporting the blue & first responders-Wrangler and Helotes Rodeo has come together to make this a special night. Friday night is Bud Light night honoring Pete and Sammy Catalena. It isn’t a rodeo without a cold-one! Lastly, Saturday the Helotes Rodeo is representing unconditional support for our Veterans.
There will be fun for all ages with a large carnival, 3 stages of live music and dancing on the Cornyval grounds. There will be several Texas country music artists performing Thursday through Sunday. Texas country band, the Spazmatics will be kicking off Thursday night. Cornyval is known for its special event called Chicken Bingo, the numbers are called out and wherever a chicken does their business depends if you get that Bingo! Also, don’t forget there will be pig races, a corn-eating contest, and much more! Many local vendors will be here selling the most unique items! You need to come support and check out the local businesses. You don’t want to miss out on this good time and a great opportunity to make long-lasting memories with your friends and family.
The Andrews Rodeo Company is owned by Sammy Andrews who is a stock contractor providing the best of the best rodeo animals around! Andrews was the owner of the famous, meanest, and bad to the bone bull around, his name was Bodacious. The rodeo will consist of women’s barrel racing, breakaway roping, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, bull riding, and don’t forget mutton bustin’! There will be cash prizes and a Champion Buckle will be awarded at each event!
Catalena Cowgirls are returning to the rodeo this year to show their spectacular painted horses. Gizmo McCracken will be the famous Barrelman and Specialty Act. Get ready to get some good laughs in because McCracken was named PRCA Comedy Act of the Year in 2017. This will be a good show y’all! Get ready to do some boot-scootin’ because at the end of each rodeo there will be a dance on the Cornyval grounds.
We can’t forget and give a big thank you to the Helotes Festival Association’s PRCA Rodeo’s sponsors, Pendleton Whiskey, Wrangler, Dodge Ram, and Bud Light. There are many local sponsors and H-E-B is the presenting sponsor. Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who are helping put on the best of the best, Cornyval and PRCA Rodeo 2021.
A new thing starting this year, Cornyval will be switching over to eCash pricing packages to purchase a ticket for gate entry and drink beverages. This is a great way to skip the line and buy online! Also, an easier way so you won’t have to worry about having cash on you. Cash and card will also be accepted as well.
I hope y’all come down to Helotes, Texas because this is one hell of an event! So much hard work and planning was put into this! This year will be even better! Come make new memories at the Helotes Cornyval and PRCA Rodeo 2021! I’ll see ya there!
