Hempstead's Waller County Fair and Rodeo 2017

Written by

The time has once again come for Hempstead families to get together and enjoy the Waller County Fair and Waller Rodeo, a wholesome and exciting celebration of Texas culture. For 2017, the Waller County Fair will roll from September 29 until October 7 at 22000 Fairground Road; organizers have planned lots of fun and exciting activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Each year, people from all across Texas come to Hempstead to be a part of the Waller County Fair, which is packed with PRCA competitions, junior Waller Rodeo events, music, country music, delicious food, and even a beauty pageant.
The Waller Rodeo starts off on September 29 with the cowgirls of the Ladies Ranch, followed by the Youth Rough Stock and Open Ranch Rodeos the next day. From October 1 through the 4, the rodeo events will include calf and team roping competitions. The big PRCA rodeo days are from October 5 to the 7; from these competitions, pro cowboys will be selected to continue on the circuit on the road to the big finals in Las Vegas later this year.
Country music fans will be able to enjoy concerts by Wade Bowen, Jason Cassidy and Shenandoah on September 30. Sundance Head, Rick Trevino and Kevin Robinson will perform on October 6. The closing concert will be on October 7 with Glen Templeton at 9:00 p.m. and Josh Ward before midnight.
A group of local young ladies will be competing for the 2017 Fair Queen title; these are proud representatives of the feminine beauty that Waller County is known for, and you will see them holding court at various events. This annual event has been taking place since 1945 and keeps getting better each year thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of sponsors. For this edition of the Waller County Fair, the sponsors include local radio stations K Star 99.7 and Texas Mix 105.3. If you are interested in making reservations ahead of the event, contact the fair office at 979-826-2825.
