Horses Help's 30th Anniversary Celebration

Written by

Hello everyone and welcome back to Horses Help.
As we begin the celebration for our 30th ride year of serving our community, we reflect on our history.  We give thanks for the hard work and vision of a few great matriarchs, Cindy Ramsey, Sue Olsen, who created the vision and culture of service that we are honored to continue.
To the countless volunteers, amazing horses, staff, therapists, and supporters we can never thank you enough.  From the humble beginning of starting in a backyard to purchasing our property, the expansion of programs, educational opportunities, we are proud to continue our role as a leader in the Equine Adaptive Riding and Therapies community.  From then to now, we understand that making the lives of people with disabilities better is our mission.  Our horses are our partners in this endeavor. This will remain our main focus far into the future.  Our clients are our inspiration.

Whether young or old, coming from all walks of life, all economic means, all ethnicities, we all come together to enrich lives of our clients and help break through personal barriers.  We look forward to providing new educational opportunities for therapists, instructors, and students who want to learn about our industry.  This year we look forward to new collaborative relationships and improving our infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing responsibilities.

Joy King

You will see in the next few weeks, a lighting project being constructed in our sensory arena.  This project, part of our new master plan, is being constructed honoring Joy King.
Her family and friends provided the financial means for us to be able to make this a reality and the Joy King Arena will be completed honoring a woman who loved Horses Help and served in so many capacities with love and compassion and we are thrilled to be able to honor her memory in this manner.
A note from her family:
To all who made this project possible: words cannot fully express our gratitude for your kindness and generosity.
Joy loved Horses Help—from when she first volunteered to help groom the horses and clean their stalls, to when she became trained to assist the riders in Hippotherapy sessions, and, most recently, when she joined the Board of Directors. She treasured her time there and was passionate about its mission. As a devoted member of the organization’s Board and Vision Planning Committee, this lighting project was so important to her. We are honored to see it through on her behalf.
Because of you, Joy’s memory will continue to brighten many lives in years to come.
Thank you. We are forever grateful.
Craig, Brian & Lauren

Finally, we want to give you a look into our future.  The Build the Dream Project, a project begun by the vision committee, of which Joy was an  integral part.  Enjoy. Dream Big and Participate in Life!
