It’s Almost Time for California Rodeo Salinas!

Written by

With a rich 100-year history, the California Rodeo Salinas, ranked as one of the top 20 Professional Rodeos, kicks off July 18-21 at the Salinas Sports Complex. Nearly 600 contestants enter the California Rodeo each year, competing for more than $300,000 in prize money. Salinas attracts over 50,000 spectators annually, making it the largest rodeo in California. The rodeo events consist of the PRCA/Professional Rodeo, Horse Show, Industrial Calf Dressing, WPPA, and Junior Barrel Race, Miss California Rodeo, Track Acts, and Freestyle Bullfights sanctioned by Bullfighters Only.

Not only does the California Rodeo Salinas host a rodeo, but they also host a week-long party. Presented by Smoot Family Chiropractic, The Carnival is open daily starting Friday, July 12th through Sunday, July 21st from 3 pm to 11 pm. On Wednesday, July 17th, Salinas Valley Ford presents the 2019 Professional Bull Riding Touring Pro Event; this show has sold out the past four years, so get your tickets soon! Friday, July 12th, presented by Taylor Farms, country superstar, Tim McGraw will headline the show with fellow guests Frankie Ballard, and opening act, The Wild Feathers; show starts at 6:30 pm. California Rodeo Salinas would also like to mention that a clear bag policy will be in place this year. If you need more information on the event, please head to their website.

Taking pride in being known for its big arena and decorative buckles, Salinas also takes great pride in being a not-for-profit organization that gives back over $500,000 each year to local non-profits. The money earned at the Salinas Sports Complex from select food booths, programs, and vehicle parking during the rodeo and other events stays within Monterey County. This event not only has a substantial economic impact on local businesses but also benefits local non-profit organizations each year by donating money back to them, giving a sense of pride and identity to the community.

Join Salinas rodeo in participating in their themed days to help raise awareness and help give back to the community.
