Jackson Hole Rodeo — Where the West is Still Wild!

If you missed the Jackson Hole Rodeo over memorial day weekend don’t fret. This rodeo will continue running every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night at 8 pm until Labor Day weekend! Gates will be opening at 6:30 pm at the Jackson, WY rodeo grounds and all seats are general admission, so the earlier you’re there the better seats you will have! This rodeo will continue no matter rain or shine, so make sure to dress accordingly.

This rodeo is not functioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) meaning that anyone can partake in the fun. As long as you submit your entry forms and fees on time and you have the ability to compete then you are all set!  Entries are open 8 – 11 A.M  the day before the Rodeo.

The Jackson Hole Rodeo has been a part of Jackson’s cowboy culture for 120 years. It all started with Sylvester Wilson, Wilson brought his family, 5 covered wagons, and 80 head of cattle to Jackson Hole from Wilsonville, Utah to raise cattle. They traveled through what is now known as Teton Pass, the Wilsons were the first group to create a clear path through the Teton Pass Trail, making it a very popular road. Six generations later and the cowboy way still lives on in the Wilson Family who continue the traditions of the rodeo.

Jackson Hole has always been a hot spot for cowboys and cowgirls. The  Million Dollar Cowboy Bar which opened in 1937 has become a famous western bar, known for its western dancing and live entertainment. It is a great spot to go after watching the rodeo on a Friday or Saturday night, you may even run into some competitors. If the bar is not your scene, you may have an interest in The Gun Barrel Steak and Game House. Known for displaying original exhibits from a former wildlife museum and for serving a good meal.

If you plan on heading to the rodeo, which you should be. Make sure to purchase your tickets early online at JHRodeo.com, tickets do sell out quickly for this rodeo and they are non-refundable. Make it a weekend with the family and go and enjoy the Cowboy Experience in Jackson Hole, Wyoming!
