Debuting her new music video, “Small Talk” from the new EP, Modern Cowgirl: Vol. I, rising country starlet, Jenna Paulette says the playful video is reminiscent of a weekend out where girls are grabbing free drinks, while the guys try to make their move. In the video, Paulette empowers women to take charge and be the one to skip the small talk and go in for the kiss.
The cowgirl has a New West style unique to her sound that mesmerizes with soft beats and pedal strings accompanied by sultry vocals. Paulette wanted the video to exemplify her western style saying that, “Marathon High School’s stadium stands were perfect. It looked just like the rodeo bleachers to me. I felt so honest to shoot there,” she shared exclusively with Cowboy Lifestyle Network, “The day after we shot there, I was hanging with a cowboy that helped build those very same bleachers! That little full circle moment made my heart happy. I love a small town.”
The Texas born-and-raised cowgirl shares her experience shooting at special locations for the video, “We shot at the White Buffalo Bar, which is pretty famous in Texas, the Brick Vault BBQ joint and the Gage Hotel which have all been featured in many travel magazines and Texas Monthly. It feels so Texan in there, but cool and just modern enough for the video. It was perfect.”
Even the small details mattered to Paulette, like picking the perfect cowboy to accompany her. “Cory Hill is the real deal cowboy, from the Big Bend area in South Texas, and he looks good on film too, which is a bonus! Everyone on set became fast friends, and we were pretty much together the whole weekend shooting videos and making memories. It was a dream come true to work with such good people; to have the video turn out exactly as I’d imagined was the icing on the cake!”
