Skip the Hassle, Maximize the Fun
Forget fighting Las Vegas traffic, dealing with high parking costs, and navigating arena crowds. Rio Round-Up lets you truly make a night of it:
- Dress Your Best: Get your favorite country attire on, whether it’s your sharpest denim, biggest belt buckle, or shiniest boots, and enjoy showing it off in a comfortable, relaxed setting.
- Comfort Viewing: Enjoy the comfort of viewing the NFR in a lively atmosphere, surrounded by fellow fans, without having to pay arena prices or battle the crowds.
- Seamless Transition: Once the final scores are posted, you don’t have to go anywhere! The venue pivots from watch party to one of the biggest dance floors in Vegas, inviting you to dance the rest of the night away.
For any dancer, few things are more frustrating than waiting in a long line, paying a hefty cover charge, only to step inside and find a crowded floor where there is barely enough room to tap your toes, much less perform a full two-step.
Fortunately, Rio Round-Up solves this problem in spectacular fashion. More than just a watch party, Rio Round-Up transforms into one of the city’s largest and best country dance halls for the ten days of the NFR. With free admission, no lines, live bands nightly, and a colossal dance floor, it’s the ultimate destination to celebrate the Western lifestyle.

Get Your Country Dance On
The atmosphere is electric, fueled by top-notch live country music that invites everyone—from seasoned veterans to two-step newbies—to hit the floor. While the bands play a mix of classic and contemporary country, the floor comes alive with a variety of popular country dances, including:
- Two-Step: The cornerstone of country partner dancing, perfect for gliding across the large open floor.
- Country Swing (or Jive): A high-energy, faster-paced partner dance that often features fun spins, dips and lifts.
- Line Dancing: A crowd favorite, with organized routines to various songs, perfect for when you’re taking a break from partner dancing or flying solo.
- Waltz: Slower country songs often call for the smooth, sweeping movements of the country waltz.
- Four Corners Cha Cha: is a popular, fun, lively 40-count dance often set to classic country music
Pro Tip: Don’t be surprised if you find people dancing at almost any event the Cowboy Lifestyle Network (CLN) covers—whether it’s a rodeo, bullriding, a live music showcase, or even a car or motorcycle-related event. The irresistible rhythm of country life moves people wherever they go!
The Joy of Movement and Community
Beyond the steps and turns, dancing is a powerful form of self-expression and emotional release. On Rio Round-Up’s giant floor, you can truly connect with the music and allow your body to tell a story that words can’t capture.
- Non-Verbal Communication: Dance acts as a language without words, giving you a safe and liberating way to express joy, excitement, and a deep appreciation for the country spirit.
- Release and Confidence: The energy of the music and the collective movement create a powerful, non-judgmental atmosphere. You can shed the stress of the day, engage fully in the moment, and build confidence with every completed spin or line dance step.
- Community and Chosen Family: The shared rhythm and passion for movement foster an incredible sense of belonging. The dance floor is where new connections are forged, and many dancers find that the friends they meet through their shared love of country dancing quickly become a supportive “dance family.”

“Country music helped me through some of my toufghest times. Through country dancing I have met so many people and have become close to many-calling them my family. It’s a way to connect with others and have a great night out.”

Two-Step Variations: Ready to Step Up Your Game?
Are you a beginner feeling a little nervous about hitting that massive floor? Or maybe you’re a dance veteran looking to level up your repertoire? Don’t worry! While “Two-Step” is the common term, there’s a whole world of dynamic styles to explore, and the energy of Rio Round-Up is the perfect place to try them!
If you’re not sure where to start, there are always experienced dancers happy to guide a newcomer. The key is to jump in and have fun! While “Two-Step” generally refers to one type of country partner dance, there are actually several distinct styles and regional variations that fall under the umbrella of “Two-Step” or have similar names.
Here are the main styles you are likely to encounter:
1. Country Two-Step (or Texas Two-Step)
This is the most common and recognizable style you see at country bars and dance halls like Rio Round-Up.
- Rhythm: Quick-Quick-Slow-Slow (QQSS) or sometimes Slow-Slow-Quick-Quick. The four steps are danced over six beats of music.
- Movement: It is a progressive dance, meaning the couple moves counter-clockwise around the edge of the dance floor (the “line of dance”).
- Key Feature: Characterized by smooth, traveling steps and common figures like passes, turns, and whips. It’s danced to mid-tempo to fast country music.

2. Nightclub Two Step (NC2S)
This is a completely different dance, despite the similar name. It is not generally considered a country dance, but a versatile social dance.
- Rhythm: Slow-Quick-Quick (SQQ). The three steps are danced over four beats of music.
- Movement: Danced mostly in a slot or in place, which makes it perfect for crowded floors.
- Key Feature: Characterized by a swaying, romantic feel. It is danced to slower, mid-tempo ballads, often R&B, pop, or slow country music.

3. Triple Two-Step (or Double Two-Step)
This is a specific variation of the Country Two-Step.
- Rhythm: The two “Slow” steps from the Country Two-Step are replaced with a “Triple Step” (a three-step chasse), resulting in a count of Quick-Quick-Triple Step-Triple Step or sometimes Slow-Slow-Triple Step-Triple Step.
- Movement: Also progressive around the dance floor.
- Key Feature: Danced to slightly slower country music than the standard QQSS Two-Step, as the triple steps take more time. It adds a shuffling or springing action to the feel of the dance.
4. Regional or Bar Variations
Beyond the formalized styles, you’ll encounter differences based on where you are dancing:
- Fort Worth Shuffle: A Texas-specific style, often consisting of 6- or 8-count patterns with shuffle steps.
- “Bar Swing”: At many informal dance spots, especially with younger crowds, you might see a simpler, stationary partner dance that people call “Two-Step,” but it is actually closer to a simple Country Swing or Jive. This is less progressive and focuses more on spins and staying in one general area.
In short, when you are dancing at Rio Round-Up, the style you will primarily see and dance is the Country Two-Step (Quick-Quick-Slow-Slow), often referred to simply as “Two-Step.”
If dancing all night is your goal, Rio Round-Up offers an unbeatable experience, especially since opportunities for dedicated country dancing in Las Vegas are surprisingly limited outside of the NFR. While the country scene is growing in Las Vegas with recent Nashville bar additions to the permanent venues like Gilley’s Saloon and Stoney’s Rockin’ Country in town, Rio Round-Up offers a massive, central dance hub.
So, grab a group of friends or just bring your spouse and have a great date night—the enormous dance floor at Rio Round-Up is waiting!

Late-Night Delight: The VooDoo Lounge
For those whose night owl tendencies kick in after the country bands wrap up, the celebration continues. During the NFR, the secret is to head upstairs to the VooDoo Lounge Thursdays – Saturdays from 9pm – 2am.
Located 51 stories up, the VooDoo Lounge offers a thrilling shift in atmosphere. While it typically features a live DJ playing Top 40 and dance music, during the NFR, it becomes a spectacular rooftop after-party with breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Las Vegas Strip.
Here’s why it’s a late-night favorite:
- No Lines, No Cover: While some Vegas nightclubs can have lengthy waits and hefty entry fees, the VooDoo Lounge often waives the cover charge during NFR events, making for easy access.
- Huge Dance Floor: The space is generous, allowing for serious dancing well into the early morning hours.
- Unrivaled Views: Dancing under the stars with the glittering lights of Vegas all around you is a spectacular way to cap off a day at the rodeo.
Whether you’re looking to two-step with a partner or just enjoy an unforgettable night out with the rodeo crowd, Rio Round-Up, followed by the VooDoo Lounge, provides a unique and expansive dance experience that can’t be missed during the National Finals Rodeo.
