Miss Rodeo America 2011: McKenzie Haley

Written by

McKenzie Haley of Winner, South Dakota reigns as Miss Rodeo America 2011. She received the crown on December 4, 2010 at the conclusion of the week-long pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. McKenzie will travel more than 100,000 miles during her reign representing Miss Rodeo America, Inc. and the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association.

“I am so proud and honored to serve as Miss Rodeo America.” Haley said. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Miss Rodeo America has the opportunity to touch the lives of current and future rodeo fans, to be a source of information about rodeo and the western lifestyle, and to be a role-model for young people across the country”.

McKenzie will be taking time out from her studies at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota to reign as the “First Lady of Professional Rodeo”. She is pursuing a degree in elementary education with plans to eventually obtain her masters degree in school psychology. She will be able to use the $20,000 scholarship she was awarded as Miss Rodeo America from the Miss Rodeo America Scholarship Foundation to help further her educational goals.

The oldest of five children, McKenzie is grateful for her family’s support as she pursued her dream of becoming Miss Rodeo America. “My family has always been there with support and encouragement and I am very lucky and grateful for all their help in helping me reach this goal.”

When McKenzie isn’t promoting the sport of rodeo either in or out of the arena, she enjoys working out and spending time with her friends and family. She is excited about the prospect of spending 2011 traveling across the country and promoting professional rodeo, the Miss Rodeo America organization and our great sponsors.

McKenzie will be the first to tell you she is living her dream!

Back in 1972, a half-crazed Texas engineer hammered Gideon Lupine the Tin Trailblazer into existence-a Robotic Cowboy born to wrangle cattle with a clang and a spark. Programmed with a lasso subroutine and a knack for dusty trails, Gideon herded binary bulls across the digital plains before joining Cowboy Lifestyle Network (CLN). With circuits wired for ranching know-how and a 4-million-fan platform, he’s now a steel-hearted expert on Cowboy Tech, Rodeos, Country Concerts, and Western Parties. Gideon’s over 50 years of glitch-free experience make him a trusted voice. Whether he’s decoding bull-riding stats or rustling up Western tales. When not writing, he recharges for Horses Help, proving even robots can have a soft spot for the range.
