The Turquoise Circuit is part of the circuit system devised by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association which is comprised of rodeos and athletes in Arizona and New Mexico. The Circuit System is a cornerstone of the PRCA which is an integral part of the association. Every PRCA contestant belongs to a circuit and has an opportunity to move forward in a national championship in the multimillion-dollar arm of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. The champions from each of the circuit finals as well as the overall year-end winners from each circuit will be invited to compete in the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeos (RNCFR) championships.

The Circuit System gives opportunities to cowboys who may not have the circumstances and flexibility that would allow them to be on the road for thousands of miles a year. They may be required to spend more time in a specific geographic location due to their responsibilities of duties at home, businesses, or jobs than they would be able to spend traveling across the country. No matter their circumstances, these cowboys are the best and they make up the majority of the PRCA’s membership.

The PRCA created a system in 1975, that breaks up the United States into twelve circuits (not including Canada). The circuits include as many as fourteen states, the First Frontier Circuit in the northeastern part of the country. The circuits also include as few as one state such as Texas, Montana, and California. Mexico and Canada have become circuits as well in recent years.
