Music Monday Artist Feature: Brett Hendrix

Written by

At age 9, Texas-born Brett Hendrix taught himself how to play the guitar. By age 14, he was the frontman for his own band that consisted of his brother’s college buddies. For just shy of a decade after that, Brett made a name for himself as a solo artist and honed in his craft. From booking to performing and everything in between, Hendrix taught himself all he needed to know about being a full-time musician. Having musical roots in blues and Southern rock, Brett expanded his style as he learned into what it is today: a mix of country (with Texas flavor), blues, and rock.

In 2018, Brett took his music on the road, covering 28 states and 52 shows in just 60 days. The SideShow Acoustic Tour was a hit and landed Hendrix some notoriety which quickly turned into joining Casey Donahew on tour for a year as a utility player (Brett played 5 different instruments on stage with Casey) and then moved on to perform alongside Wyoming country artist, Chancey Williams for another two years.

“I learned a lot while playing with both Casey and Chancey. There’s so much I thought I knew but, being on the road proved to me that I could always grow and learn more about how the business works.”

Now 26 years old, Hendrix has decided to try his hand at being a solo artist again. “I figured that if I’m going to take the leap and try to do the solo thing, now is the best time. I don’t want to ever wonder ‘what if’ by not taking the chance.” Currently planning his next tour and working on new music, Brett is diving headfirst into the next chapter of his career. “The people I’ve performed with and the experiences I’ve been able to have truly helped me get to this point. I’m excited to see what the future holds!” With dates already on the books around Texas and Colorado, plus shows soon to be confirmed around the country, there’s already plenty of opportunities for you to see Brett perform live.
