Third-generation Alabama-born musician Chad Wilson was raised on Southern gospel. Learning piano from his mom at the age of 5, drums from his uncle at the age of 9, and guitar from his grandfather at the age of 13, he was unknowingly given the tools and the foundation that would ultimately take him from that small Alabama town to stages and places one could only dream of. Wilson’s list of musical accomplishments and awards is impressive to say the least, including recognition by Taylor Guitars and HoriPro Entertainment Group as a Top 10 National Songwriter, having songs recorded by over 40 country music artists, hitting the Billboard charts, and recently obtaining the title of #1 country song in Belgium.
Wilson currently has quite a few projects in the works, including just wrapping up in the studio on a new song written by Troy Martin called Ascending. This new single is a much-anticipated duet with young up-and-coming artist KC Anne. Currently, on the road together in Maryland, Wilson and KC Anne have been busy in front of the silver screen camera as well. A while back, Chad and KC were approached by a mutual friend to act in an upcoming western movie, Shotgun Charlie, produced by Kyle Smithson. Shotgun Charlie tells the story of a child’s imagination that runs wild when playing with a friend and their make-believe storyline comes to life. The short film will premiere later this year. Wilson and Smithson are no strangers to each other as Smithson also produced the music video for Chad’s most recent single Lie Like You Love Me.
Keeping his Alabama roots alive, this past summer Wilson, who is an ambassador for a lake near his hometown, released a song called Viva Lake Martin. “As the ambassador, I feel like it’s my responsibility to bring Nashville to the lake. I wrote Viva Lake Martin for the Lake Martin Songwriters Festival, which we had the inaugural festival this past summer.” The festival is a multi-day and multi-venue event featuring over twenty artists on Alabama’s treasured Lake Martin, just outside of Montgomery.
