National Western Stock Show and Rodeo 2017

Written by

For cowboys and cowgirls in Denver who love a good rodeo, there’s no better event to attend than the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. This year’s event, scheduled for January 7-22 at the National Western Complex, promises to be bigger and better than ever. With media coverage led by the Cowboy Lifestyle Network and also including the Ak-Chin Indian Community and Earnhardt Auto Centers and Papa John’s Pizza Road Team, fans are guaranteed to see the best interviews and footage possible from the event. With a record crowd expected this year, there’s no doubt the NWSS will offer excitement unlike any ever seen in years past.
Rodeo History
With the inaugural event taking place in 1906, the NWSS has a rich and varied history in the region. Holding one of the country’s largest horse shows as well as one of Colorado’s largest Western trade shows, the event attracted visitors from Omaha, Chicago, Kansas City, and many other eastern cities. From an initial crowd of 15,000 in 1906, the event now attracts more than 650,000 visitors, proving it does indeed attract people of all ages.
Cowboy Downhill
Along with the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, fans who attend can also take a short journey to Steamboat to witness the 43rd Annual Cowboy Downhill. Filled with plenty of thrills and spills, it’s a great way to have some additional fun while attending the NWSS. And along with the Cowboy Downhill, attendees can get a great meal when they stop by the 3rd Annual BBQ Competition, which kicks off the NWSS and sets the stage for two weeks of fun and excitement.
Rodeo Events
When you attend the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo this year, you should be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat. That’s because this year’s event promises to be more exciting than ever, with a number of events that are sure to have people sitting on the edge of their seats. Whether it’s bull riding, bareback riding, trick roping, or other events, there’s no doubt each event will offer plenty of excitement.

Don’t Miss the Event
Along with plenty of events that put the competitors on display, there are other things going on as well. Parades, dancing horses, a wild west show, and much more are on the agenda during the two-week event. If you love a great rodeo that keeps the traditions of the Old West alive, then the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo is for you.
