NFR Bullfighters Trio

Written by

All year long hundreds of men provide a peace of mind to contestants by voluntarily risking their lives each time a bucking chute is cracked open, but only three men are chosen to supply the most important rodeo of the world with this heroic deed. Dusty Tuckness, Aaron Ferguson, and Chuck Swisher have been voted in to keep rodeo’s favorite bull riders out of harm’s way for ten nights in a row on December 3rd through 12th in Las Vegas. These lucky men are your 2015 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo bullfighters, and it’s no doubt that they will be heightening the level of entertainment at the super bowl of rodeo in the West’s wildest city.
You can look forward to them capping off the competition with an acrobatic and artistic flare. The agility of these men and the danger of the sport give the show an added sense of excitement, and bull riding wouldn’t be enjoyable without them. It is easy to overlook the fundamental role that these men will play when fifteen of the most popular riders in the industry are sticking their spurs into the sides of a bad Brahma bull. But keep in mind that some of these riders wouldn’t even be willing to get on such rank animals without bull fighters present. Their knowledge and anticipation and capability to match the bulls’ erratic movements prevent the bull riders themselves from being few and far between.
If you’ve never paid much attention to the bullfighters before, now is the best time to start. Equipped with a level of athleticism that is crucial to the success of the event and the safety of those involved, this twenty-something-year-old trio is the best in the business. With a combined total of eight previous NFR appearances between the three, numerous freestyle event wins and lengthy and successful careers altogether, the opportunity to take on another year at the Thomas and Mack has been well earned.

I grew up on a Midwest farm with dirt under my fingernails and the sound of wind rustling through cornfields. My childhood was all about 4H – raising pigs and horses, learning to bake and sew, and discovering the magic of transforming a garden into jars of summer sunshine. Those years taught me the value of hard work, the thrill of seeing a project through to the end, and the simple joy of creating something beautiful. A country girl with a need for speed and a thirst for adventure. Maybe that's why I love the feeling of wind in my hair – whether I'm cruising down a dusty road on my Harley or tackling a mountain trail on my trusty mountain bike. Some of my earliest memories of rodeo are watching my father compete at small local events. That's also where my love for country music comes in – long car rides listening to 8 tracks. The lyrics and melodies always spoke to my soul. These days, you'll find me cheering on the cowboys and cowgirls at rodeos, two-stepping to my favorite bands, belting out a country tune at a concert or sharing stories and laughter with friends around a bonfire. When I'm not soaking up the country life and getting my boots dirty, I'm a nurse, caring for folks in my community. Follow along for more stories from the heart of rodeo and country life!
