NILE Stock Show & Rodeo 2021

It is almost time for the NILE Stock Show and Rodeo in Billings, Montana, taking place October 15-23, 2021 there is something for the whole family! NILE is a non-profit organization, 501(c)5, dedicated to the promotion of livestock, agriculture education, and respect for western culture.

History of the NILE Stock Show & Rodeo

The Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE) was originally created and founded by a committee under the Billings Chamber of Commerce in 1966. In 1967 the Public Auction Yards was the first to showcase the Northwest’s vast livestock industry. In 1968, a full blown livestock show with over 250 exhibitors and 600 entries kicked off. The first recorded Northern International Livestock Exposition was made up of livestock shows, horse shows, and rodeo. Those traditions continue today as the NILE has become one of the largest agricultural events of the Northwest. Through the years the NILE Stock Show has always been a show with some of the purest and most influential genetics in the world. The NILE is host to several national cattle breed shows and horse sales.

NILE Rodeo

Who’s ready for a rodeo? Because it’s the start of the PRCA season, the NILE showcases many of the top contestant in the circuit. In 2006, a ranch rodeo was added to the NILE event roster as a fall event. The event took off with huge success, displaying the essence of real American cowboys. In 2009 the NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals was established in which winning teams from NILE sanctioned Ranch Rodeos from across the region came to compete for the top honor of being the NILE series champion team. The NILE has three PRCA performances, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday starting at 7 p.m. each night in the MetraPark First Interstate Bank Arena.

Livestock Shows

It isn’t just about the rodeo though, the NILE is also a Stock Show and is a great opportunity for breeders, exhibitors, and consignors to show off their premier animals. In 2019, the NILE Stock Show hosted 14 breed shows – Open and Junior shows-, 2 Prospect Steer & Heifer Show, 4 Jr. Fed Market Shows, a Commercial Heifer Pen Show, 2 breed sales, 1 Prospect Steer and Heifer Sale, and 1 Jr. Fed Sale of Champions. Overall, the entry numbers have grown exponentially over the past several years.

Trade Shows

Exhibit Hall

In the Trading Post area you can expect to find booths filled with clothing, jewelry, home decor, building and construction companies, and horse feeds and supplies.

Trading Post (Exhibit Hall) Hours:
Saturday, October 16th – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, October 17th through Wednesday, October 20th – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday, October 21st through Saturday, October 23rd – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Expo Center

The Expo Center is right next to where the show cattle are stalled, you can expect to find booths and businesses that have Ag equipment, cattle equipment and supplies, and building and fencing.

NILE MARKET

NILE Market

Located in the small bay of the Montana Pavilion, are a variety of booths with livestock products, trailers, clothing, and household items. This area is only open the last three days of the NILE Stock Show & Rodeo.

Aaron Kuhl

Aaron Kuhl is a passionate advocate for the western lifestyle, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Cowboy Lifestyle Network (CLN). Growing up as an Arizona native, with a mother who worked for Wrangler Western for over 30 years, Aaron was immersed in the cowboy culture from a young age. Aaron and his sister Heather grew up watching rodeos, as their grandfather and uncle were PRCA ProRodeo cardholders. This early exposure has given him a profound understanding and appreciation for the western way of life. Aaron went to Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, AZ, then to the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, where he received a Bachelor of Science after creating his own major. This unique course of study wove together Business Marketing, Geography, Sociology, Philosophy, and Religion. After graduating from the University of Arizona, Aaron joined CLN in its nascent stages, contributing to its growth and development over the past decade. As COO, Aaron manages operations, using AI to streamline processes and analyze data, ensuring CLN remains a leading voice. With expertise in business development, he innovates and cultivates client relationships, supporting CLN’s exponential growth. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Aaron values his faith, family, and friends, which are the cornerstones of his life. This personal foundation, combined with his professional expertise, makes him a trusted and authoritative voice in the western lifestyle community. Aaron’s commitment to philanthropy is the bedrock of his personal ethos. He actively supports local Arizona organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, Chandler Compadres, Horses Help, Harris Brothers Charity Foundation, and the American Heart Association (among others), reflecting his dedication to giving back and strengthening the community he calls home. Through his work, Aaron aims to preserve and promote the traditions of the west, ensuring that the spirit of the cowboy lives on for future generations.
